Steam: Shooter legend celebrates a fat comeback after 17 years

Half-Life-FanBase has donated the second part of the popular shooter series from Valve in a large-scale action after 17 years again a real comeback.

Half-Life 2: Shooter legend celebrates comeback on Steam

The second part of the Half-Life series enjoyed strongly rising player numbers on Steam and has even cracked the previous record at the same time active players within a short time . This ascent is not about.

Gordon Freeman and Co. benefit recently from a lot of fan love in the form of the so-called breaking-the-bar events that was launched by the lambdageneration, a well-known Half-Life community and started on August 14th . The aim of the project was to find out if the current brand of 6,882 players can be broken on SteamDB.

Not only is it possible to exceed the old peak clearly , even the almost ten-year-old record of at least 12,953 could be broken. The new house number of the Valve shooter is currently 16.101 simultaneous players.

Steam's shooter classic went out the air

Due to the age, Half-Life 2 does not support the most tracking features of Steam nowadays. As the popular gaming platform began to comply with player numbers, most players had already finished the well-known first-person shooter. Of course, that had appropriate effects on the access numbers in the following years.

After the game now has profited for a short time from the increased interest and the bar could screw upwards, the lambdageneration with Entering the Portal already plans comparable event for September 4. The fun will then turn around Portal 2.
