If you play games for a while, you remember when the dubbing was downright... bad. It was often done internally, which often meant hilarious and offbeat performances. At the time before capturing performance, the actor game was not taken seriously. The pros thought it was below them. Developers often did not see the value. Or, they could not afford the named actors. Little by little, things have changed. The games have become a big deal. There was more money to hire real actors. The capture of performance also really changed the equation. Now we expect a big budget game to hire the best players available.
