Utah Jazz Trades Rudy Gobert still Minnesota

The next spectacular message from the NBA: Utah Jazz release Rudy Gobert and thus initiate a change.

Rudy Gobert is no longer player of Utah Jazz. The team from Salt Lake City Tradet the triple defensive Player of the Year (2018, 2019 and 2021) to Minnesota. In return, the Timberwolves send five players to Utah: Leandro Bolmaro, Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, Walker Kessler (22nd Pick des Drafts 2022) and Jarred Vanderbilt. In addition, the jazz gets off-round picks from the T-Wolves for the years 2023, 2025, 2027 (each unprotected) and 2029 (top-five-protected).

Gobert's trade is not unexpected. After the past disappointments in the playoffs, many observers calculated with drastic changes in the squad of jazz. The relationship between the center and co-star Donovan Mitchell was also burdened.

The In Minnesota, Gobert forms a well-known big men duo with Karl-Anthony Towns, who will slide the power forward position from the center. Last season, the 30-year-old Frenchman came to an average of 15.6 points with a field throw rate of 71.3 percent and 14.7 rebounds. The latter two statistics represented a personal record in Gobert's NBA career.

Gobert, whose contract is still running until at least 2025, plus an option for another season, earns almost $ 38.2 million in the coming season. To compensate for the salaries in the deal, the Timberwolves send five players to Utah. The most prominent of these actors are Patrick Beverley and Malik Beasley, but none of them can catch the loss of Gobert.

Thus, the jazz from the circle of serious playoff teams in the Western Conference are likely to say goodbye, but receive four round picks as a compensation. After a decent pre-season, Minnesota confirms his sporting ambitions with the trade.
